BBQ Arm Review – 2021

BBQ Arm – The 2021 Review

We recently received a BBQ Arm from Tony and Kylie to review. Here are our thoughts on the company, the product, and our experience using the BBQ Arm product range.

We received 3 parcels from Kylie and Tony. The first parcel had the 50mm Vehicle Tow Hitch Mount. The second parcel contained the BBQ Arm itself along with the Checker Plate Tray and Universal Drawbar Mount. The third box contained the BBQ Mate arm and tray along with a heavy-duty canvas tray bag for transport.

The parcels were well wrapped up with bubble wrap and secured in place with airbags and styrofoam blocks.

At first glance, I was impressed with the quality of the materials, the welds, and the attention to detail with the laser cutting. The parts connect seamlessly together and take less than a minute to connect.

Tony and Kylie are campers, and their passion for camping and camp cooking has shone through with this Australian Made product. They employ a local team of fabricators and only use Australian made steel and parts. The BBQ Arm has been made to withstand the harshest of Australian weather conditions.

What is a BBQ Arm?

It’s a simple swing arm BBQ table suitable for a BBQ, such as a Ziggy or Webber. The swing-away adjustable arm allows you to place the BBQ Arm in the optimum position, whether that be on your Drawbar, or optionally on the tow hitch of your vehicle. The BBQ Arm is a super stable platform and can be accessorised at will.

The Parts and Accessories

The Arm comes in 3 sizes: 650mm, 850mm, or 1m in length. The trays come in 3 different finishes (aluminium checker-plate, plain checker-plate and a black powder-coated finish). There are 2 different tray sizes (560x360mm) and (700x500mm).

There are two mounts. The default BBQ Arm hitch connects to the drawbar of your RV. Optionally, you can purchase a 50mm hitch receiver mount for your car.

We received a tray bag. For me this is a must-have accessory. It will keep your tray from getting scratched and keep the dust away from the surface. The quality of the canvas bag is superb and should last years.

We were also sent the BBQ Arm Mate, a bolt-on table system that connects to the arm of the BBQ Arm itself. It’s an awesome piece of kit that allows you to have a prep bench/bar next to your BBQ.

This measures out at 550x350mm in size from the inside measurements. The turned-up edges on the trays were a smart choice by the designers, as this stops the BBQ or cutting bench from slipping off during use.

Our Thoughts

From the outset, I was impressed by the high level of customer service and the shipping time frame. The quality of the packaging was exceptional, as was the product information contained in the boxes.

Assembling the kit took a minute or so and was really easy. I’m 6 foot and felt comfortable standing over the BBQ, given my height. The optional tow hitch mount will come in handy when we do a beach trip. The BBQ Arm Mate is a great option for the budding chef like me. You can never have enough kitchen prep space.

All in all, the product is totally fit for purpose, well built, and supported. I’d have no hesitation recommending the BBQ Arm and any of its accessories to any prospective purchaser. We like supporting Aussie families, clever innovations and Australian jobs.

This is a premium product that will last you many years. Consider it a worthwhile investment. Happy travelling!
